Brazilian festival

What a festival – 32 hours of sign language workshops, masterclasses and performances, held in December 2016 in Florianópolis, Brasil with artists from seven countries. The aim was to bring together the deaf community and experienced sign language actors, storytellers and poets – from Brazil and around the world, to share and learn about deaf signed folklore.

This wasn’t just about performances. It was more than just entertainment. It was for learning about the traditions and how to perform and appreciate what was being performed. It was for sharing and teaching, using Deaf culture and Deaf teachers, so that more deaf people can create and perform their own works in Libras (the sign language of Brazil).

To make my film accessible, there is audio in Brazilian Portuguese and subtitles in English and French (click the CC button and choose the language if you want to watch with subtitles).
